                                                                    BE AWARE!

English 101A is not a class to be taken lightly. You must have an adequate work ethic and rely on page 380 of  "Rules for Writers". If your work ethic is questionable, then many decisions must be made. There cannot be any slacking off and no time for happiness. You must grind day in and day out. If anything you have in life could get in the way of writing perfect essays, then throw it away from your life. The best tools to keep your work ethic healthy is a bottle of advil and a pretty computer screen because thats all you will be looking at. The second most important aspect to be aware of in this class is the most sacred book of all..."Rules for Writers", if you don't have the seventh edition you might as well drop out asap! Be very familiar with page 380 because it is the heart of the course. In desperate times, I would copy word for word everything on that page until my hands had blisters. This page will help you understand subordinate, coordinate, and correlative conjunctions. It also helps in prepositions, conjunctive adverbs, and interjections. Without this page life itself would cease to exist and, so will your grade in English 101A.

Are You Cool?

Cool describes a noun, and when it is used that noun is thought highly of. One example is how the Washington Wizards are cool. I went to a game once and they played with tenacity to win the game against Dallas. The Wizards also have many good basketball players, who I think very highly of, so they are cool. Another example is how restaurants with very good food and atmospheres are cool. Le Diplomate in D.C. has a cool french atmosphere with delicious food. I also think very highly of Rasika, which is also found in D.C., and they have a very unique atmosphere and top of the line food.

I Was Never Into Resolutions

I Was Never Into Resolutions

So, I honestly came up with a bunch of resolutions just for the assignment. I have heard a lot of other peoples views on resolutions, some good and some bad. I decided that really if you have a problem, just work on fixing it at that very point in time. Most people do not go through with their resolutions in the first place, which makes me not even consider it in the first place. Many give up after a few months, but the ones who actually grind through I applaud you. I did actually come up with one resolution in my essay assignment and I spoke about how I wanted to grow my writing skills. I wanted to grow my writing skills because I know I need to finish school, but I also know that it is going to come in handy in my other classes. It is just one of my bad subjects, but I know it is attainable. I am still working on this "resolution" and so far it is going in the right direction. I just try to stay disciplined and focused on this goal. I need make sure I keep working hard because my tolerance for English is always tested. In the end, I know I can achieve this goal and many do not have attainable goals. So, make sure your resolution is attainable! I have heard too many resolutions that almost seem impossible. Please, at least make it reasonable!

WAS GOOD WITH ENGLISH

I have always, always hated English class. Every other subject I can enjoy the learning, lectures, and work; but with English class I just have trouble. I hate writing assignments and always having to change my writing style to the teacher's liking. One thing I do have to say is somewhat enjoyable about the whole writing process would have to be reading and understanding the assignment. Its when the teacher wants us to do all this extra stuff that is annoying. In addition to I would have to say writing openly about a easy topic is not as bad. What  I mean by that is that I do not have to worry about my grammar, structure, or anything. It is almost like these blogs, but growing up in VA my old English teachers would write a topic on the board and we would write about whatever comes to our mind about that topic. The only guideline would be the page length, which they always made them a half page long. This type of writing I liked because unlike essays, where they take so much time, effort, and stress. It was a stress reliever and the topics were fun to write about.

Deadly Deadlines!

Deadlines are so stressful! I make it a high priority of mine to always turn in essays and projects by the assigned due date. This is why it is so stressful to me. I want all those points and late points will only harm me. I never did amazing things in English class, so those deadlines had to be met in order for me to have the best grade. There is times where I will not have the homework in on time, but if its a big essay or project that has a significant amount of points to it I make it my priority. I honestly think nobody in school likes deadlines besides teachers. The worst part is when the amount of work you have and other things in life mess up your time management for the deadline, and this I feel is the real stressful part of deadlines. Even though deadlines are very stressful, somehow I always seem to get my work in on time. There have been times where I think its a miracle that I finished a assignment and was able to get it turned in time. For people who do have trouble with deadlines and feel they cannot get those assignments turned in on time, I would say that you need to figure out your priorities. If you plan on being a student it has to be your priority or you will not have success. Keep up with the work and turn in those assignments by the deadline, because in the end that job you have that is helping you pay for your car, house, family, and etc. you are going to be glad that you finished school and made all those deadlines that allowed you to pass.
